So many people I speak to use the exact same skincare routine every single day, all year round. But that doesn’t work, because our skin’s needs change week by week, sometimes day by day – depending on hormones, stress levels, sleep quality, diet and the unpredictable British weather.
If your skin isn’t static, your skincare shouldn't be either, and that’s exactly why we developed the Dr Somji Pro-Active Skincare range. It is an adaptable range designed to be mixed, matched and layered depending on what the complexion needs.
Why your skin's needs are always changing
Think about your skin throughout the month - one week, you may be dealing with hormonal breakouts; the next, patches of dryness. Add stress to the equation, and the skin barrier can become red or sensitive. Factor in everything else like diet, late nights, screen time and changing weather conditions - and it’s easy to see why the skin doesn’t always behave the same way from one week to the next.
The Two-Step 'Dr Somji Protocol' System: How to Mix, Match and Layer
We know that choosing between different skincare products and ingredients can be confusing. Do you treat the breakout or the fine lines? The redness or the pigmentation? With the Dr Somji Skincare Protocol, you don't have to choose. Our range is built around the principle of layering, so you can target multiple concerns at once while maintaining balance and harmony in the skin.
Here’s how to build your daily stack.
Step 1: Select Your Concentrates
The Dr Somji Concentrates are potent, targeted formulas developed to tackle specific skin concerns, and you can use them individually or together
Anti-Redness Concentrate - calms both vascular and inflammatory rosacea, repairing the barrier and reducing flushing.
Anti-Blemish Concentrate - targets blemishes and post-blemish pigmentation while rebalancing the skin environment that causes them.
Anti-Wrinkle Concentrate - contains encapsulated retinol for fine lines and loss of firmness. Gentle enough for sensitive skin.
Anti-Dark Spot Concentrate - features 13 actives to target pigmentation at its source.
Use these to personalise your routine. For example - if you have redness across your cheeks, but a breakout on your chin, apply the Anti-Redness Concentrate to the cheeks and the Anti-Blemish Concentrate to the chin.
Step 2: Seal It with Serum
Once your Concentrates are on, lock them in with one of our Signature Serums - think of these as a daily multivitamin for your skin. Packed with 15 active ingredients, including our proprietary SOM1X® barrier complex, it works across all skin types to maintain a strong barrier, whatever Concentrates you are using underneath.
Our Signature Serums come in two formulas. The Signature Serum is ideal for normal to dry skin, while Signature Serum Light is better suited to oily, reactive or blemish-prone skin - and its lighter consistency makes it a great choice for the summer months.
For skin that needs extra hydration, try layering our Dr Somji Exosome Barrier Repair Serum between your chosen Concentrate and Signature Serum for added protection and repair.
Put it together (Layer vs. Mix)
Once you’ve selected your Concentrates, there are two ways to apply them, depending on how much time you have and how your skin behaves:
Layer it: Apply your chosen Concentrate (or multiple Concentrates) directly to the specific zones that need them - for instance, Anti-Redness Concentrate on the cheeks and Anti-Wrinkle across the forehead. Once they've absorbed, smooth the Signature Serum over the entire face on top.
Mix it: If you're short on time or want a single bespoke formula for the day, combine a few drops of your Concentrate and Serum directly in the palms. Blend them together, and smooth across the face.
If your skin is playing up in multiple ways, you can even do both at once. Apply one Concentrate directly to a problem zone (like a breakout), then mix a different Concentrate into the Serum to treat the rest of the face.
Your skin is unique and it deserves a routine that treats it that way.
