With party season fast approaching, achieving that effortless glow takes more than a last-minute mask. We invited London-based, celebrity facialist Emily Rose Lansley to share her advice on prepping skin in the weeks leading up to the festive season.
Start Early for a Lasting Glow
Prepping your skin a few weeks before party season is essential if you want to truly look your best. I like to think of skincare the same way I think about going to the gym - one session can make you feel good, but lasting, visible results come with consistency. If you give your skin a few weeks of proper care, it has time to rejuvenate and glow from within. Our skin naturally goes through a renewal cycle of shedding dead cells and replacing them with fresh, healthy ones. When you allow enough time for this process, the complexion becomes smoother, brighter and more even. Fine lines soften, hydration starts to improve and make-up sits beautifully.
The Four-Week Glow Plan
When it comes to at-home prep, keep things simple. Focus on gentle exfoliation one to two times a week to improve cell turnover, remove dull cells and boost glow. Dr Somji Detoxifying Charcoal Cleanser is great for deep cleansing. Keep skin hydrated with hyaluronic acid and layer antioxidant-rich ingredients such as vitamin C to even tone and brighten. I like Dr Somji Signature Serum. Introduce a retinol at night to smooth texture and stimulate collagen over time; the Dr Somji Night Recovery Cream is ideal. For targeted care, try the Dr Somji Concentrates to treat wrinkles, breakouts and redness, and always use a daily SPF like Dr Somji Vitamin C Daily Defence Moisturiser SPF 30.
The Two-Week Countdown
In the two weeks before party season, focus on strengthening your barrier rather than overloading with actives. I like combining LED light therapy and microcurrent to boost radiance, tone and sculpt the skin for that lifted glow my high-profile clients love. Keep exfoliation gentle and finish with a nourishing, barrier-repairing cream like Dr Somji Exosome Barrier Repair Serum. By the time your event arrives, your skin will be smooth, luminous and make-up will apply flawlessly.
The Night-Before Glow
For an instant pre-event glow, I love using LED light therapy followed by microcurrent to energise and sculpt the skin, followed by a nourishing mask for extra glow. A few drops of Dr Somji’s Concentrates give an immediate boost - they’re incredible for brightening and calming any redness. If a spot appears, dab the Dr Somji Anti-Blemish Concentrate directly on the area and layer a soothing barrier cream overnight. Finish with a hydrating mist and luminous moisturiser like Dr Somji Signature Serum Light, for that fresh, healthy glow before make-up.
Post-Party Recovery
After the party season, it’s all about repairing and rebalancing the barrier. Look for ingredients like ceramides, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid to restore hydration and strength. I also love incorporating Dr Somji Exosome Barrier Repair Serum, which helps repair and rejuvenate stressed complexions. Keep your routine simple - focus on gentle cleansing, deep hydration, plenty of sleep and supplements to bring your skin back to balance.
